By all accounts, McHenry SummerFest was a success. For my part, I was tickled to be a part of it with Rough Cut.
We kicked off the music at 10am, and I have to say we kicked butt!

(L to R, Joby, Kevin, Ayden, me, Jackson, Brent)
Todd Autry, Kevin Autry, Joby Miller, Brent Embry, Ayden McIntyre, and Jackson Groves put on a heck of a show, especially considering it was our first with Ayden on drums and Jackson on bass.
I have to give the Jones boys, Ralph and Randall, and their crew a huge, huge shout out, too. Seems some meth heads stole all the electrical wiring to the stage at McHenry Community Park.
A makeshift, portable stage had to be erected and power supplied by generators and such. The Jones boys and crew had it all going when we arrived. All their hard work was most definitely appreciated.
They had us setup in the shade, too. Plus, there was a decent breeze. So we didn’t suffer from the heat like some of the later bands.

A great number of car show participants were already in place when we were there. Sweet rides!

I was especially happy to see one particular ride. You see I’m a Ford truck man.

That is a dandy!
McHenry SummerFest had a lot of other good things going on as well. There was a cornhole tournament and a silent auction. And at dark they had fireworks!
I’ve said before that I see this festival as a model for what I’d like to see Rosine Autumn Jam become.
It might be a while, but eventually it can happen. Small steps every year—that’s my plan. Last year we had two bands. This year we have three bands. Rough Cut, Tailgate, and The Country Beavers Band.
What I’m happy to announce is another addition for this year, the Rosine Autumn Jam Washer Pitching Tournament.
I’ll provide details in an upcoming blog post, but a couple things I’ll announce here: 1) $100 to the winning two-person team, plus more cash prizes, and 2) This will be a 10-inch diameter KEG washer tourney.
There’s plenty of time before Rosine Autumn Jam October 4, 2025. Right now I want to enjoy reminiscing about yesterday in McHenry.
A great day! I hope they ask us back next year!
