Late Father’s Day

So the kids know I’m UK all the way and that bourbon is an interest of mine.

Bourbon is one of those Kentucky things I like to know more about. I don’t drink much of it, but I research and read about its history and science.

Fermentation is one of the major science concepts you learn about. It’s up there with photosynthesis, cell theory and the water cycle.

The human race has been using the fermentation process for thousands of years. Before refrigerators, fermentation was a major source of food preservation.

Without fermentation we don’t have some of the main food sources throughout history, like bread and cheese.

Of course the human race also used fermentation to make alcoholic beverages like bourbon, beer and wine. I’m not going to get into the history of the controversy surrounding that.

I do find Kentucky’s role in the history of bourbon to be fascinating. Most people don’t know how bourbon came to be a Kentucky product and symbol.

That’s definitely a post for a later date, but let’s just say it had to do with boats transporting whiskey down the Ohio River in wooden barrels.

That was all the way back in the 1800’s. Now, we even gave a bourbon distillery in Ohio County.

I haven’t tasted their product, so I can’t say much about it, but I will say I’ve heard from multiple sources that the bourbon industry is not doing well.

Back to the gift—you can see in the photo that the bourbon bottle has “Club Blue” on it. Club Blue is a new NIL collective to help UK raise $ for their college athletes.

Those of you who know me are aware that I bleed blue. Always have, always will. That’s the facts Jack!

I appreciate the gift. I may save it and never open it. That way I’ll always have a token of my childrens’ love on Father’s Day 2025.
