In the last blog, the one about our trip to Miramar Beach, I mentioned that one day we went deep sea fishing, and I included a couple pics.
That got me to thinking about fish pics. I started looking back thru some old photos, and next thing you know, I’ve decided to share a few.
So here we go!

I don’t know if you can see it clear enough, but the car’s license plate says ‘54, and also “Indiana.” That means the young feller is my late Uncle Gerald Autry, and he’s eight-yrs-old.
My Dad, Kenny Autry, says they lived in Evansville at the time, but had come back home to Kentucky and gone fishing on Rough Creek near Dundee.

That’s Dad kneeling on the right and Uncle Gerald on the left and Uncle Ronnie standing. Mid-60’s.
According to Dad, the brothers had netted a whole big bunch of Buffalo on Caney Creek below Dan Station. One weighed fifteen pounds.

Dad has no recollection of this huge Flathead catfish. So it’s probably 1966 or 1967 when Dad and Uncle Gerald were both overseas in Vietnam.
Uncle Ronnie on the left. Papaw Tom Autry in the right. Mamaw Eva in the back.

That’s Dad (Kenny Autry) with a huge White Perch, aka Drum, caught in the 80’s on Lake Barkley while crappie fishing. Dad had a knack, or some would say curse, for catching Drum when he was targeting some other fish. In the boat with him are Danny and Ginnie Renfrow.

This one, too, is from the early 80’s at our old house on Hwy 62 between Rosine and Horse Branch. That’s my brother Kevin in the back. Front right is my Uncle Bobby Casteel from Texas, holding the catfish. His son Ricky is in the middle. I’m holding the bass.
I pretty sure we caught these from the pond beside our old house.

Sorry for the poor picture quality.
Sometime in the 70’s my family started visiting relatives at Lake Barkley every year for spring break to fish for Crappie.
That’s me on the right, and my brother Kevin in the back, and my cousin Junior Autry on the left.
Junior still lives down around the lakes. Marion, I think. At the time this picture was taken, he and his family lived in Kuttawa very near the water.

A few years ago, my cousin Mike Autry and I went crappie fishing at Rough River Lake. We caught a good mess, but most memorable was this nice White Bass he caught.
Next!

That’s my brother Kevin again. He’s herding a school of Asian carp back into their Caney Creek corral.
Next!

My son Tanner Autry with a nice Dorado, aka Mahi-Mahi, he caught near Miami, Florida.
Next!

2022. Twelve-pound, Caney Creek Flathead caught on a jug. Notice how my right bicep is still atrophied from my 2021 neck surgery. I’ve regained most of it back, but it’ll never be 100%.
Next!

That’s my sister Bobbi Jo with a bass caught while crappie fishing either on Kentucky Lake or Lake Barkley, probably Barkley.
Dad is sitting. Sister-in-law Jennifer, Kevin’s wife, is standing. Kevin’s the pic-taker.
Next!

That’s Mom, Sharon, with the Caney Creek crappie. Spring 2024, I think. She and Dad caught a good mess a fish that day.
Next!

Nice bass I caught while crappie fishing at a lake here in Ohio County a couple years ago.
Next!

My buddy Bill Vincent caught an early spring bass on Caney Creek several years back. That was a good day spent with old friends. Our pal Steve Higbee took the pic.
Next!

Higbee wasn’t going to be outdone, so he booked a charter in Baja, California and caught this little one. I actually think the other guy caught it.
Next!

Tanner with a small bass caught fishing from a kayak under a bridge near Charleston, South Carolina. Wherever we Autry’s go, we gotta fish!
Next!

Dad with a nice Caney Creek bass a few years back.
Next!

Early May 2023. My cousin Jimmy Casteel and I had a great night on Caney Creek. He caught these two really nice Flatheads. A twenty-pounder and a fifteen. Mine was just ten, so it didn’t make the cut.
Next!

My nephew Jacob Autry ( Kevin’s and Jennifer’s son) slingin’ lures with Billy Strings on Kentucky Lake. Bluegrass and Bass!
Next!

2023. Biggest bluegill I ever caught. And I let him go. I was only fishing for smaller bluegill for bait anyway.
Next!

This one was particularly fun to watch. Dad caught this four-pound white bass on an ultralight rig. Took him at least ten minutes to land it.
Some people don’t like to eat white bass. We do!
Next!

Nephew Jacob, this time with nice Red Snapper caught down in the gulf, Dauphin Island, Alabama, I think.
Well, I think that’s enough for now. No doubt about it, my family loves to fish. I still have some old photo albums to go through. I’ll either write up a Part Two or an addendum or just add them to this blogpost.
Now, go fish! And God bless!
