So I wrote this new song called “Farm Cats.” It’s about growing up on a farm as a UK Wildcat fan. Tonight, Friday, September 19, I sang it, I recorded it with my iPhone, and I posted it to my Notes of Blue YouTube channel.
My phone’s audio quality wasn’t all that great, so I thought I would share the lyrics…
Farm Cats
Biscuits and gravy come cold when you’re lazy
You best be the first up at the first crack of light
Brothers and sisters won’t do you no favors
They’ll eat up a fair share and then yours for spite
Late to the fields will get you a good chewin’
Tobacco rows are longer in the midday sun
Straight from the long rows into the hayfield
Hundred-pound hay bales will make you grow up
Farm life ain’t fancy, Lord knows it ain’t easy
But one thing it sure is is chock full of beans
And cornbread and taters and bacon and maters
And watchin’ ‘em Wildcats with your whole family
Give me a three-point shot into history
Give me a legend on the court as the Y
Give me a sold out crowd out in Kroger
Give me “My old Kentucky home goodnight”
I’ll take the wins, and I’ll take the losses
I just can’t help it ‘cause I bleed true blue
I am so proud to be from Kentucky
Ya’ll come and see us, bring your family, too
Farm life ain’t fancy, Lord knows it ain’t easy
But one thing it sure is is chock full of beans
And cornbread and taters and bacon and maters
And watchin’ ‘em Wildcats with your whole family

“Farm Cats” was a fun song to write. And to sing! I hope it’s fun for you as well.
